Bootcamp on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Finance

CISE and 180 DC co-hosted a 2-day bootcamp on October 8-9, 2021, centered around "Entrepreneur as an Innovator." The opening session featured Mr. Satish Jha, CEO of ECCO Electronics, discussing entrepreneurship and innovation. Dr. Roopinder Oberoi oversaw the event.

Aramya introduced speakers, and Dr. Oberoi highlighted CISE and 180DC. Mr. Jha highlighted India's need for an innovation culture in entrepreneurship, where risks drive improvement.

Mr. Jha distinguished innovation from invention, explaining how the US leads in innovation. The webinar drew 45 active participants who engaged positively.

Emerging Market Innovation and Business Models

On October 8th, 2021, Dr. Shalini Singh discussed "Emerging Market Innovation and Business Models" via Google Meet from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. With extensive startup experience, Dr. Singh co-founded a Health Tech Startup, fostering creative cultures in talented groups.

Dr. Roopinder Oberoi, CISE's Convenor, highlighted CISE and 180DC. Dr. Singh's session involved inventive activities and explored Lean Canvas business models, emphasizing problem-solving and innovation.

She discussed the "Innovator's DNA," using a Bakery Store example and engaging students with creative questions. The session highlighted innovation's importance, featuring examples from major companies. The webinar saw proactive participation and positive feedback from center members.

Personal Finance Management
 

On October 8th, 2021, Mr. Sandeep Taneja led the third session via Google Meet, discussing "Personal Finance Management." With extensive financial expertise, Mr. Taneja shared insights on active and passive earnings, expenses, and key financial concepts.

Aramya introduced the speaker, and Dr. Roopinder provided an overview of CISE and 180DC. Mr. Taneja covered distinguishing expenses, earning methods, and concepts like Time Value, Credit, Insurance, Investment, and Tax.

He also touched on investment platforms, stock market dynamics, and short selling, offering valuable insights to students.

Aramya, a 180DC member, expressed gratitude to Mr. Taneja, concluding the session on personal finance management.

An Innovative Mind: Leadership for Entrepreneurship

On October 9th, 2021, the fourth session occurred from 11:00 am to 12:00 am with Mr. Hemant Kushwaha via Google Meet, discussing "An Innovative Mind: Leadership for Entrepreneurship." Dr. Hemant Kushwaha, an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Innovation and Incubation Centre at JNU, led the session.

Mr. Hemant began by emphasizing the importance of an innovative mindset for successful entrepreneurship, distinguishing innovation from invention.

He explored Emotional, Process, and Functional Innovations, touching on fields like product, technological, and organizational innovation.

Mr. Hemant concluded by discussing Six Methods of innovation and the consequences of neglecting innovation. He shared practical ideas for fostering innovation.

Career in Banking and Finance
 

CISE and 180DC's 5th lecture in the Bootcamp's second day featured Mr. Alok Kedia on "Careers in Banking and Finance." Mr. Alok, an experienced finance professional, discussed the sector's growth history, especially after the 1992 economic liberalization.

He highlighted the ongoing growth prospects of Banking and Finance till 2030, stressing its critical role in employment. Mr. Alok covered Fin-tech, Mutual Funds, Capital Market, investment banking, and Mergers and Acquisitions, wrapping up with a focus on positive attitude.

The webinar had 45 proactive participants and a successful event, aligned with Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Finance sector relevance.

Social Entrepreneurship and Times of Crisis

On January 15, 2022, the Centre for Innovation and Social Enterprise at Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, organized an online webinar on 'Social Entrepreneurship and Times of Crisis.' Ms. Palak Sharma, Co-Founder of Green Governance Initiative, discussed the pandemic's impact on opportunities and challenges.

The discussion redefined networks, going beyond the saying "Your network is your net worth." Ms. Sharma emphasized networks as nurturing and essential, prompting discussions on innovation, campaigns, funding constraints, and job-related concerns.

The event ended with an interactive Q&A session led by the President, followed by a Vote of Thanks from the Vice President.
